Mary Blair Cinderella Magic Coach Concept Painting (Walt Disney, 1950). Mary Blair was Color Stylist on this film along with Claude Coats, John Hench, and Don DaGradi. The color palettes in her concept paintings helped shaped this movie. In the book Walt Disney's Cinderella, retold by Cynthia Rylant with pictures by Mary Blair, the book says, "Cinderella went to the hall with a promise to return home at midnight before all the magic went away." There is plenty of magic in this jaw-dropping original concept painting of Cinderella's Coach arriving to the castle, and the palace guards allowing its entrance. This is a magnificent gouache painting on board, measuring 22" x 9", by Mary Blair. It's one of the single finest, and largest, concept paintings from Cinderella we have seen. The coach and horses alone are 9" long. The detailed castle under a full moonlit night are exquisite. Pinholes in corners, and minor handling wear on the borders. Very Good condition.
