Mary Blair Cinderella Dream Sequence Color Key/Concept Painting (Walt Disney, 1950). In John Canemaker's book The Art and Flair of Mary Blair: An Appreciation, he writes about Mary Blair on Cinderella: "Blair color-keyed and suggested staging for every important sequence in the film, and some discarded as well. Her imaginatively surreal paintings for the cut "Cinderella's Dream" (in which she commands seven housemaids of her own) rival the visual pizzazz of Dumbo's 'Pink Elephants' sequence and the little train in The Three Caballeros." Blair images of this great sequence are seen in both of his books on Mary Blair. This is a rare Mary Blair original Color Key/concept painting of the Cinderella "Dream Sequence." This is one of Mary Blair's large Color Key paintings, in gouache on illustration board measuring 17" x 9". The infinity of housemaids marching with brooms is fantastic, as is the sky color and overall image; it's one of Mary Blair's most famous deleted scene paintings. Tack holes in corners, minor handling wear. In Very Good condition.
