Mary Blair Cinderella Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1950). "I just can't believe that I found you/I just can't believe that it's true/Yet here I am, dancing/high on a cloud with you!" These are the lyrics from the deleted original song sequence from Cinderella, "Dancing on a Cloud", composed by Larry Morey with lyrics by Charles Walcott. The song was released with studio-archived conceptual art and storyboards on the Platinum Edition DVD (released 10/4/05). This amazing rarity is original conceptual by Blair. The oversized work of gouache on paper mounted to board, and measures 12" x 10". Dirt and smudging from handling and storage are on the margins and some of the painting, which minor professional restoration should eliminate. The red sash on the Prince and the same gates can be seen in the archival art on the 2005 release. "Dance in the Clouds" was used in the Sleeping Beauty finale almost a decade later. In Very Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
