Mary Blair Cinderella Color Key/Concept Painting Original Art (Walt Disney, 1950). "A young man knows what he must do when the girl he loves disappears. He must find her." Offered in this lot is a stunning Mary Blair (1911 - 1978) original Color Key/concept piece. Mary Blair was prominent in producing art and animation for The Walt Disney Company, drawing concept art for such films as Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Song of the South and Cinderella. Concept art is developed through several iterations. Multiple solutions are explored before settling on the final design. Once the development of the work is complete, concept art may be reworked and used for advertising or promotional materials. This piece was used in the Cinderella children's book by Cynthia Rylant. Rendered in gouache, enclosed in a glass-fronted frame of 15" x 13". The frame has a fabric covered matboard with an aperture of 9.5" x 7.25". Frame sold as-is. Blair was inducted into the group of Disney Legends in 1991. A rare opportunity to acquire an original painting by a Disney Legend. Artwork condition is Fine.
