In the book The Art and Flair of Mary Blair: An Appreciation, John Canemaker writes on page 50, "Mary Blair's sensibility pervades Alice's leaf patterns, shrubbery, settings, props, characters, costumes, and color." These words ring true in this stunning Mary Blair concept painting of Alice in Wonderland. It's rendered in gouache on a simple board measuring 7.5" x 6.5". A stunning full-figure Alice among the flowers, with a figure size of 3". The number 4 is written in the bottom right corner. A single tack hole in the upper border; board has toning with minor handling and edge wear. Image area is in Very Good condition.
