Description

Manuel Gonzales Bath Time Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy Publicity Drawing (Walt Disney, 1930s). "Ah! Phooey!" Wailing at the bathroom door, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck are short on time in this humorous Walt Disney Studio illustration by publicity artist Manuel Gonzales (1913 - 1993). Mickey and Donald impatiently awaiting access to a shared "Bath Room" was created by Manuel Gonzales in the mid-1930s when he was one of the lead artists in Disney's publicity art department with Tom Wood (1887 - 1940) and Hank Porter (1900 - 1951). Possibly created to propose a theatrical short animation. One might suspect that Goofy is taking his time in the bath. Rendered in graphite and red colored pencil, this playful composition is blocked out to a size measuring about 8" x 10" on a 12 field 5-peghole sheet of animation paper. The piece has light to moderate age-toning, light handling and edgewear, including one pinhole below Donald's feet, minor creasing along the lower edge, and a partially torn upper right corner. In Good condition.
