Man in Space Concept Paintings by Eyvind Earle Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1955). Ward Kimball directed this episode of the Disneyland TV series, which first aired on 3/9/55. It followed up episodes of "Man in the Moon" and "Mars and Beyond." "Man in Space" was also shown as a theatrical featurette, and was shown in theaters with Davy Crockett and the River Pirates. The short was nominated for an Academy Award. This is a rare set of three Color Key/concept paintings by Disney Legend Inductee Eyvind Earle. His artwork from the Disney "Space" series is considered very rare. Paintings are in gouache on board; two measuring 6" x 7" with stylized faces; the third board measures 8" x 6", showing the moon and clouds. A clear sheet of acetate is over each of the paintings. These images are similar to what is seen at the launch sequence around the 41:58 mark into the film. Tape on the borders (for acetate overlays). Very Good condition. From the Joe Hale Archives.
