Man and the Moon Concept Drawings by Joe Hale Original Art Group of 16 (Walt Disney, 1955). "Man and the Moon" originally ran as the 20th episode of the first Disney television series, Walt Disney's Disneyland. It aired on 3/9/55, and told how the moon has infuenced mankind since the beginning of time. At about the 15:30 mark, a series of comical illustrations appear onscreen. Here is artist/animator Joe Hale's original penciled drawings for these images. We start with the Cupid that appears at the 15:29 mark, and go on to show a Victorian couple with the top-hatted man kissing the lady's hand; a man and woman from ancient China; Tango dancers in Spain; a Russian worker couple; two American Indians with canoodling papooses; a modern man (holding his pipe) and wife kissing; a pair of teenage lovers; a pair of senior citizens; a worried-looking groom and his beaming bride; an artist kissing his painting of a woman (in two drawings, with red pencil highlights); a fisherman and his fish; a cowboy and his horse (with blue pencil underdrawing); a policeman kissing his wife through their window; and one we couldn't find in the film, an angry "battleaxe" wife with a rolling pin (drawn in red pencil). All are drawn on 16 field 3-peghole animation paper except for three pieces that have been trimmed and mounted to backing boards. Each drawing is signed "J. Hale." Good to Very Good condition, with handling/edge wear. A fun lot! This lot will have to ship from Dallas to the winning bidder. From the Joe Hale Collection.More Information: EDIT: Added shipping info
