Description

Madagascar Marty Early Character Development Drawing Group of 3 (DreamWorks, 2005). Here's an incredibly rare offering, 3 early character development drawings for Marty from DreamWorks' 2005 computer-animated film Madagascar attributed to his supervising animator Kathy Zielinski. Zielinski is a celebrated animator known for her work at Disney animating Ursula in The Little Mermaid (1989), Jafar as a Beggar and Snake in Aladdin (1992), and Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996), as well as her work at DreamWorks as an animator on Kung Fu Panda (2008), How to Train Your Dragon (2010), and of course Madagascar where she provided character development art as well as animation. These delightfully expressive drawings of Marty resemble similar artwork of the character that can be viewed on her personal website. Voiced by Chris Rock with similar comic mannerisms, Marty is pictured seated in a manner very uncharacteristic of a zebra with each of his full-figured images rendered in graphite ranging in size from 6" x 8.75" to 7.5" x 8.5" on animation paper trimmed to various sizes. Production art from computer animated features like Madagascar is extremely rare, so don't miss this early tangible piece of character development. With typical studio handling and edge wear including pinholes in the corners and some areas of light smudging, overall this charming set is in Very Good condition.
