Kings Island H-B Character Sign Cels, Drawings, and Letter Group (Hanna-Barbera, 1970). The Kings Island amusement park in Cincinnati was originally called "Coney Island." It was moved in the 1970s and re-branded. This is a rare copy of a letter dated 1/23/70 from an Coney Island executive addressed to Bill Hanna asking for specific ride requirement signs to be made for the theme park using H-B characters. With the letter are three hand-painted cels that were done at the park's request. Included is a drawing and matching cel of Scooby-Doo with a sign in his mouth that reads "If You Are As Tall As Me, You Can Ride This Ride;" a second cel with Mildew Wolf holding a sign reading "Have You Seen 'Circus '70;'" and a third sign of of Scooby and Shaggy not buckled in a theme park car ride. These cels with the copy of this letter showcase the beginning of H-B and Global Theme Park branding, one of the first theme park projects ever for Hanna-Barbera. Minor handling. Fine condition.
