Johnny Tremain Concept Painting Signed by Peter Ellenshaw (Walt Disney, 1957). "Plant the seed in our homeland, boys, let it grow where all can see! Feed it with our devotion, boys, call it the Liberty Tree!" Here is an outstanding original concept painting by the great Peter Ellenshaw (1913 - 2007), created for the Boston Harbor scene from live-action film Johnny Tremain. Based on the Newbery Medal-winning children's novel of the same name by Esther Forbes, Johnny Tremain retells the story of the years in Boston, Massachusetts prior to the outbreak of the American Revolution. The film was the first Disney live-action film to be directed by Robert Stevenson, who would go on to collaborate with Peter Ellenshaw on Mary Poppins. This beautiful hand-painted piece is signed by Ellenshaw, and it measures a substantial 24.5" x 12". A gorgeous rendering, this magnificent painting showcases Peter Ellenshaw's knack for creating great atmospheric depth and drama. The piece is rendered on heavy duty illustration board, and it shows minor handling and edge wear with a small chip in the upper left corner. The condition is Very Good.
