Description
James and the Giant Peach "Cloud Lady Ideas" and Rhino Story Development Art Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1996). In the Roald Dahl book, the Cloud Men are antagonists who live high up in the sky (higher than planes fly) and send ice, snowstorms, blizzards, and freezing wind down to Earth to punish humans. They were omitted from the Disney film but were considered, and here are two pastel/mixed media designs for one of the Cloud Men's wives. The art is on lightweight board measuring approximately 7" x 7" and are affixed to a 15" x 20" black board that also included four pasted-on prints. The rhinoceros that attacks James and the peach in the sky is seen in a separate piece of black paper measuring 7.5" x 8". The art is by special effects animator Sari Gennis (1954 - 2022) who worked on films like Star Trek: The Motion Picture and FernGully: The Last Rainforest during her long career.
