An outstanding concept painting from Disney Legend inductee, Peter Ellenshaw (1913 – 2007) for Walt Disney's 1962 live-action film, In Search of the Castaways. Concept art is a form of illustration used to convey an idea for use in films and television. It is developed through several iterations with multiple solutions being explored before settling on the final design. Concept art is not only used to develop the work, but also to show the project's progress to directors, clients and investors. Ellenshaw would follow up this project with his Oscar winning visual effects and matte paintings on Mary Poppins. This rare painting depicts the expedition as they search for the lost sea captain. The piece was painted on 17" x 9.5" board. the artwork is framed to 18.5" x 11" and hand-signed by the artist. Frame sold as-is. Overall artwork condition is Very Good.
