    In Search of the Castaways Original Concept Painting by Peter Ellenshaw (Walt Disney, 1962). An active volcano is featured in this outstanding concept painting for Walt Disney's live-action film, In Search of the Castaways. The painting was rendered by Academy Award winning visual effects artist, Peter Ellenshaw (1913 – 2007). In the film, set in the late 19th century, young Mary Grant played by Haley Mills, and her brother Robert join Jacques Paganel played by Maurice Chevalier on a journey around the 37th parallel in search of their shipwrecked sea captain, father. Concept art is a form of illustration used to convey an idea for use in films, before it is put into the final product. The term "concept art" was used by the Walt Disney Studios as early as the 1930s. The Artwork is framed to 21.5" x 14" and hand-signed by the artist, Peter Ellenshaw. Vintage concept art from a major Hollywood studio is arguably rare and very hard to find. Frame sold as-is. Overall artwork condition is Very Good.
