Hank Porter "Grasshopper" World War II Insignia Preliminary Art (Walt Disney, c. 1940s). Hank Porter's Military Insignia designs went well beyond the inventory of regular Disney characters. The insignia designs by Hank Porter and Roy Williams also featured a large number of insects; bees, hornets, wasps, ants, and grasshoppers were all used. This is a highly finished Hank Porter (1900 - 1951) preliminary design for a Marine Communications Unit. A Marine helmet sits proudly atop the electrical pole where the repair is being completed by a busy grasshopper. What a great 6" image! Art is in graphite with blue and brown pencil highlights on 9" x 8" trimmed paper. Minor handling wear. In Very Good condition.
