    Description

    H. R. Pufnstuf Pufnstuf's Cave Concept Painting (Sid and Marty Krofft, 1969). After working on the Banana Splits, Sid and Marty Krofft brought a life-size puppet show to television. The main character was a friendly dragon called H. R. Pufnstuf, who had already been appearing in live-action shows at the Puppet Theater in the four Six-Flags Amusement Parks. Pufnstuf was the Mayor of Living Island. TV Guide voted this show #22 in their poll of TV Guide's Top Cult Shows. It premiered on 9-6-69 and ran for only 17 episodes, which were shown in reruns for many years. This is an extremely rare early concept painting titled "Pufnstuf's Cave." The painting is watercolor on 40" x 20" board with clear acetate over the artwork. The painting is attributed to Wes Cook. Mr. Cook, a long time Disney Imagineer, was considered one of the most prolific concept designers and artist in the field of themed entertainment film and TV. He passed away in 2005. Slight fading to painting and minor handling and edge wear. The four corners are damaged, but nowhere near any painted area. This is one of the rarest pieces of animated television history we have come across. Fine condition.
