Description

Gone With the Wind Country - Original Concept Art for Tara by Eric Heschong (LEG, 1992). This original piece of concept art was created by Landmark Entertainment for the proposed Gone With the Wind Country theme park, envisioned in the mid-1990s to coincide with Atlanta's 1996 Olympics. Rendered in gouache on 20" x 13.5" Crescent illustration board by artist Eric Heschong, the artwork beautifully depicts Tara, the iconic plantation home of Scarlett O'Hara from the 1939 motion picture classic. Planned by Georgia Holdings Inc.-a venture led by developer Mark Driscoll and Hollywood theme park designer Gary Goddard of Landmark Entertainment-the park was intended to immerse guests in re-creations of Gone With the Wind's most memorable settings. Initial designs called for Tara, the Twelve Oaks plantation, and Rhett Butler's mansion to anchor the property, blending the film's romantic narrative with large-scale themed attractions. Although Gone With the Wind Country was never realized, this striking concept artwork provides a rare glimpse into the ambitious plans to bring one of cinema's greatest stories to life as an immersive destination. A fascinating piece of entertainment design history, the artwork is in Very Good condition.
