Description
Gone With the Wind Country - Aerial View of the Park - Original 20" x 27" Concept Art by Eric Heschong (LEG, 1992). This amazing original concept artwork presents an aerial view of the proposed Gone With the Wind Country theme park, envisioned by Landmark Entertainment in the mid-1990s to coincide with Atlanta's 1996 Olympics. Rendered in gouache on 20" x 27" illustration board by artist Eric Heschong, the piece dramatically depicts Tara, Scarlett O'Hara's legendary plantation home, alongside the stately Twelve Oaks and Rhett Butler's mansion, anchoring the property with grandeur drawn directly from the 1939 cinematic masterpiece. Eric Heschong, a former Disney Imagineer and acclaimed background artist for Hanna-Barbera's Scooby-Doo franchise, brought a painterly authenticity to this ambitious design. Planned by Georgia Holdings Inc.-a partnership led by developer Mark Driscoll and Landmark co-founder Gary Goddard-the project aimed to immerse visitors in lavish re-creations of Gone With the Wind's most iconic settings. Themed attractions, richly detailed environments, and romantic Southern storytelling were central to Landmark's vision. Although never realized, Gone With the Wind Country remains a fascinating "what if" in theme park history. This stunning artwork provides a rare glimpse into that vision and stands as an important artifact of entertainment design.
