Fantasia "The Nutcracker Suite" Thumbnails Drawings Group (Walt Disney, 1940). The third segment from Walt Disney's marriage of classical music and animation centered around Tchaikovsky's ballet suite, with visuals of the changing seasons. Various fairies and sprites add dew to morning plants, change their colors to suit the season, and send tree leaves cascading down with the wind, into the water below as Winter settles in. Creating this colorful segment involved studio artist Arthur Heineman using color pencils to produce twelve 3.5" x 3" thumbnail concept artwork panels of Spring flowers, trees, and Autumn tree leaves swirled in hues of blue, orange, yellow, and green. The panes are drawn six to a page on trimmed 16 field animation paper. These beautiful little illustrations are nicely double-matted with yellow inner board and green cloth-covered outer board to an overall size of 12" x 14.25". On back of each mat, the paper's reverse side is visible, showing studio "Concert Feature" stamps that note the artist's name and date of Aug. 9 1939. The art paper is fragile, with paper toning and handling/edge wear, and is in overall Good condition. The matted images remain in Very Good condition.
