Fantasia "Pastoral Symphony" Concept Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). The classic Walt Disney animated feature film Fantasia was released in theatrical roadshow engagements held in thirteen U.S. cities on 11/13/40. The roadshow cut version the film features no credits or title music, just the Art Deco title card placed at the intermission. The general release version (the one shown most often) places the title card at the beginning, as on most films. The film gained a huge cult following since its first release, and is notably important to the film industry as a milestone in the creation of the modern music video. From this masterpiece of film making, we have an extraordinary piece of character design concept art from "The Pastoral Symphony" sequence. This is an original pastel drawing of the Orchid (girls) and the thistles (boys) who dance to the Nutcracker Suite. The overall image measures 10.5" x 8" and is beautifully rendered on tan 12 field 5-peghole paper. It's an amazing one-of-a-kind piece from this ambitious Disney film. The paper shows toning, pinholes, and edge wear. Condition is Very Good.
