    Description

Fantasia "Night on Bald Mountain" Concept Sketch Original Art (Walt Disney, 1940). "Halloween parties go back a long, long way. This very first was quite a bewitching affair. A gala affair of ghosts and goblins at a supernatural night spot called... BALD MOUNTAIN!" This is how the 1940 "Fantasia/Night on Bald Mountain" segment was introduced on The Wonderful World of Disney episode called "A Disney Halloween," on 10/29/83. This is a rare piece of concept artwork from this Wilfred Jackson-directed segment of Fantasia. The story for this segment stars Chernabog, god of evil, who emerges from the peak of Bald Mountain to summon his ghosts and demons; it was developed by Campbell Grant, Charles Payzant, and Thor Putnam. Bill Tytla provided the animation of Chernabog, and the concept artwork was developed by Kay Nielsen. This is a great concept piece showing the demons emerging from Bald Mountain. Art is in gouache/watercolor on paper measuring 9" x 11"; it's matted with an opening of 9.5" x 12", and framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 19" x 22". Frame is sold as-is. Art condition is Very Good.
