    Description

Fantasia Concept Art by Walt Scott (Walt Disney, 1940). This incredible piece of concept by Walt Scott (1894 - 1970) was created for a proposed sequence for Fantasia called "Insect Ballet" which was to be animated around Edvand Griegs piano composition "Butterfly." This is a wonderful example of early concept art done in graphite and gouache on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. The image measures approximately 5" x 8". The back is stamped "Concert Feature," artist is written in as "Scott" and it's dated 8/11/39. You can read about this unmade section of Fantasia and about the artist in the book by Didier Ghez They Drew As They Pleased: The Hidden Art of Disney's Musical Years - 1940s Part I. This was volume two in this book series and page 25 profiles Walt Scott. There is minor handling and edge wear, and pinholes; otherwise, condition is Very Good.
