    Description

Fantasia Bacchus and Jacchus Pastel Concept Drawings Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1940). Here are two magnificent pastel concept sketches from the "Pastoral" segment of Disney Studio's classic animated feature Fantasia. Beethoven's Sixth Symphony formed the background for this beautifully animated piece starring the fun-loving Roman god of wine and intoxication, Bacchus. In movement #3, he arrives on his donkey Jacchus and drunkenly cavorts with the centaurs and centaurettes. The first rendering features both Bacchus and Jacchus in full-body images measuring 5" x 8" overall. The second is of Bacchus dancing alone and measures 4" x 7". These drawings are one-of-a-kind sketches created during the early development of this historic Disney film. Rendered in pastel and graphite on brown 12 field 5-peghole paper. They are in matching frames under glass with mat openings of 10" x 12" in 17.5" x 19.5" frames. A small part of the upper left corner of the Bacchus drawing is missing and the pair show light handling wear; otherwise, condition is Fine. Frames are sold as-is.
