DescriptionEyvind Earle Sleeping Beauty Woodcutter's Cottage Concept/Color Key Painting (Walt Disney, 1959). "And for 16 long years, the whereabouts of the Princess remained a mystery, while deep in the forest, in a woodcutter's cottage, the Good Fairies carried out their well-laid plan. Living like mortals, they reared the child as their own and called her Briar Rose." This is an outstanding Eyvind Earle (1916 - 2000) original concept painting/Color Key of the Woodcutter's Cottage. It also showcases the gristmill and water flowing into the stream, as well as the nearby forest and, far off in the distance, the castle! This is one of the only studies by Eyvind Earle that we have seen to incorporate all three. The simple detail to the very far-away castle is staggering. Stunning gouache on heavy illustration board measuring 22" x 9". Signed by Eyvind Earle in bottom right corner. Tack holes in all four corners and minor handling wear. In Very Good condition.
