Eyvind Earle Sleeping Beauty Prince Phillip Signed Color Key/Background (Walt Disney, 1959). "NO! It cannot be! Now you shall deal with me oh Prince... and all the powers of hell!" These are the words of Maleficent after she watches Prince Phillip with the aid of the three Good Fairies continue on against all odds with his rescue efforts. This is one of the largest concept/background Color Key paintings of this "good vs evil" finale scene by Disney Legend Inductee, Mr. Eyvind Earle. He was the Color Stylist/Art Director on this film as well as background painter. Magnificent gouache on board image of Prince Phillip with his "Sword of Truth" in hand while riding Sampson, his horse, towards Maleficent as a dragon, for their final battle. The thorns that have grown to keep him away are everywhere. Amazing large board of 25" x 9". One of the single most striking and largest Color Keys of this scene we have come across. The artwork is hand-signed by Eyvind Earle (1916 - 2000). Minor handling and edge wear, pinholes in corners, overall Very Good condition.
