    Eyvind Earle Sleeping Beauty Prince Phillip Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1959). Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty was released on January 29, 1959 after over seven years in production. Eyvind Earle was hired by Disney in 1951 as an assistant background painter, and soon rose up through the ranks to give this film its entire art direction. This is a one-of-a-kind, original hand-painted color key/concept painting of Prince Phillip battling the thorn trees in his attempt to reach the castle and save Princess Aurora. He has the "Shield of Virtue" and the "Sword of Truth" in his hands. A very dramatic and important painting, done in gouache. edge-to-edge. on illustration board measuring 15" x 6". Pinholes in all four corners from studio use; overall Fine condition. Signed by Eyvind Earl in the bottom right corner.
