    Description

Eyvind Earle Sleeping Beauty Concept/Color Key Background Painting (Walt Disney, 1959). After the evil fairy Maleficent places her curse on the newly born infant, Princess Aurora is sent to hide at the Woodcutter's cottage in the forest with the Three Fairies. This is an original concept/Color Key painting of her ancestral castle as seen from the forest where she is raised in seclusion. It was painted by renowned Disney background artist Eyvind Earle (1916 -2000). This may be one of his finest Sleeping Beauty masterpieces. It features the castle set against a purple/pink sunset with his signature geometric foliage in a highly stylized landscape. It's painted in gouache on board and bears the artist's distinctive signature in bottom right corner. It is in a 26" x 20" frame and displays light handling and edge wear, with pinholes in corners. Overall condition is Very Good. Frame is sold as-is.
