Description

Eyvind Earle Sleeping Beauty Concept/Color Key Art (Walt Disney, 1959). "I wonder, I wonder if my heart keeps singing, will my song go winging to someone who'll find me, and bring back a love song to me..." An exceptional piece by the hand of Eyvind Earle (1916 - 2000), here is a magnificent rendering of Princess Aurora's ancestral home, seen at a distance from the forest where she is raised in seclusion. Showcasing great atmospheric depth, this dramatic piece depicts the castle desperately out of reach for the longing protagonist. A painting that could only be achieved by the Disney Legend inductee, this piece showcases geometric flora and rich texture with a moody, cool color palette. Likely created for the moment seen at the 26:44 mark of the film, this painting is rendered beautifully in gouache on 15" x 6" illustration board. It bears the artist's distinctive signature, and the piece shows minor handling and edge wear with a pinhole in each corner. The condition is Very Good.
