    Description

Eyvind Earle Sleeping Beauty Castle Courtyard Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1959). Original hand-painted background Color Key/Concept Art painting of Sleeping Beauty's Castle Courtyard. Beautiful colors mesh with the castle, the castle flags and the subtle reference to the three Fairies flying. They are depicted as a bolt of yellow color (in the film, the three Fairies -- Fauna, Flora and Merryweather were animated by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston). Beautiful gouache painting on board measuring 15" x 6". Signed in bottom right corner by the artist, Mr. Eyvind Earle (1916 - 2000). Matted and ornately framed with Plexiglas. Fine condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
