Eyvind Earle Man in Space Concept Paintings Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1955). Ward Kimball directed this episode of the Disneyland TV series, which first aired on 3/9/55. It followed up episodes on "Man in the Moon" and "Mars and Beyond." Man in Space was also shown as a theatrical featurette and was shown in theaters with Davy Crockett and the River Pirates. When shown on its own, Man in Space was nominated for an Academy award. This is a rare pair of Color Key/concept paintings by Disney Legend Inductee, Mr. Eyvind Earle (1916 - 2000). His artwork on the Space series is considered extremely rare. Both pieces are painted in gouache on 7" x 6" pieces of illustration board. These would have been used for the launch sequence shown around the 41:58 mark into the film. Clear protective acetate is placed over each painting. Very Good condition.
