Eyvind Earle Man in Space Concept Art Color Key Paintings Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1955). Ward Kimball directed this Disneyland TV episode that aired on 3/9/55. This Academy Award-nominated short (shown theatrically along with Davy Crockett and the River Pirates) was followed up with "Man on the Moon" and "Mars and Beyond." This a series of three concept art/Color Key paintings from the hand of Eyvind Earle (1916 - 2000). Mr. Earle is a Disney Legend Inductee; artwork from his hand on this show is considered very rare. Art is in gouache; the two facial studies are on board measuring 6" x 7", while the painting of the moon measures 6" x 8". Stunning portraits and studies! The men are similar to the faces seen at the launch sequence around the 41:58 mark. Minor handling and edge wear. Tape on borders. Very Good condition. From the Joe Hale Collection.
