Doug Wildey The Great Undersea Race Concept Art Group of 2 (Hanna-Barbera, c. 1960-70s). After the success of Jonny Quest, Hanna-Barbera put Doug Wildey to work on developing their next hit series In the "Quest" mode. This is a rare original concept/presentation artwork for a proposed series called The Great Undersea Race. The artwork is from the hand of legendary comic artist Doug Widely, creator of Jonny Quest. It was likely done before the creation of 1972's Sealab 2020. This artwork would have been used to pitch networks, sponsors, in house staff and H-B studio executives. This original pen and ink and marker original artwork is matted with a mat opening of 27" x 18". It is an astonishing piece, with great detail and subtle color work. A hand-painted title is on the mat of the proposed series. The artwork is signed by Doug Wildey with his characteristic signature. Also in the lot is an additional concept art piece for this proposed show created in ink over graphite with color marker on paper. It is trimmed and mounted on 21" x 13" black board. Two incredible pieces of Doug Wildey art in one lot! There is light handling and the mat on the larger one is ripped. However the art pieces are in Fine condition.Auction Info
