Description

Dinotopia "Dinosaur Hatchery" Original Graphite Layout for Concept/Pitch Art by William Stout for Landmark Entertainment (LEG, 1999). This original graphite layout illustration was created by William Stout in 1999 for Landmark Entertainment Group's ambitious proposal to develop a Dinotopia theme park. Rendered on 30" x 20" paper and signed "Wm Stout," the artwork is inscribed "Dinosaur Hatchery" and depicts a whimsical dinosaur-themed playground designed for children. The layout features imaginative play structures, including the "see-saur" dino see-saw, a brontosaurus slide with children sliding down its long neck and back, a dino-egg bounce house, and swings that look like they could have come straight from a Flintstones cartoon. Landmark's Dinotopia concept envisioned a family-friendly "edutainment" destination blending theatrical spectacle, immersive environments, and hands-on science in the spirit of their 1990s urban entertainment center projects. Stout, renowned for his cinematic style and prehistoric illustration, brought the property to life through detailed pitch art that conveyed the tone of a vibrant civilization where humans and dinosaurs coexist. This rare, signed layout drawing, used to guide the creation of a final presentation painting, is a superb artifact of Landmark's unbuilt Dinotopia project. Presented in Very Good condition.
