    Description

Destination Earth Layout and Animation Drawings (John Sutherland, 1956). This a collection of animation and layout drawings by one of the pioneers of the highly stylized, mid-century animation style, Tom Oreb (1924 - 2009). They are from Destination Earth, an industrial cartoon produced by the American Petroleum Institute, to promote the benefits of oil and capitalism, and which is available to be seen on YouTube. Oreb was the talented designer of such "hep" shorts as Tex Avery's Symphony in Slang and Ward Kimball's Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom as well as the character stylist of Princes Aurora in Disney's Sleeping Beauty whom he based on the slender and beautiful Audrey Hepburn. His modern style defined an era and these drawings exemplify that style. Most of the pages include Martians and flying saucers in red, blue and gray pencil. They're on 12 field animation paper and unframed. Some have staple holes or rust spots from where staples were. All exhibit light handling wear; otherwise, condition is Very Good. From the Vic Haboush Archives.
