Destination Earth Concept Painting (John Sutherland, 1956). This concept painting is from the wonderfully stylized, mid-century modern industrial cartoon Destination Earth which was produced by the American Petroleum Institute to promote the benefits of oil and capitalism and which can be viewed on YouTube. It was beautifully painted by production designer Victor Haboush (1924 - 2009). He was one of the trailblazing young modernists in animation who eschewed the "Disney Style" for a cool, modern aesthetic. The painting of two aliens on the surface of Mars is gouache on board measuring 9.5" x 13.75". Condition is Fine. From the Vic Haboush Archives.
