Clerks: The Animated Series Jay and Silent Bob Concept Art Group of 5 (Walt Disney/Touchstone, c. 2000). Clerks: The Animated Series, created by Kevin Smith and based on his film Clerks, is a cult hit, and it was the first and only adult animated series produced with Disney Television Animation, which was uncredited. Despite its low ratings due to the ABC network releasing crucial episodes out of order, the show saw significant success with a DVD release and a full release on Comedy Central. Presented is a fantastic collection of concept designs created for the show. The first of these is an illustration of Jay and Silent Bob getting booted out the door, made in response to their fast cancellation on ABC. It was created for producer David Mandel, also known as executive producer and director for Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Veep. The second is a rare early character study of Jay. The next two pieces are the original rough pencil drawing and a hand-inked drawing of Jay created for the "under construction" website. Last is a small page of Clerks and The Simpsons doodles created by co-producer Scott Mosier. A fantastic set of original drawings, they are rendered in graphite and ink on 7.5" x 5.5", 5.5" x 10", 12 field and 16 field animation paper. The sheets show minor handling and edge wear, and the first drawing has some folding and tearing near the corners. It also contains cut and paste elements, and the condition overall is Very Good.Auction Info
