    Description

City Beneath Original Concept Art by Peter Ellenshaw (Walt Disney, c. 1980s). Here's an important concept piece from a proposed Walt Disney feature film about a city of elves that live beneath San Francisco and maintain the infrastructure for the world-famous Cable Cars. The piece was created by legendary filmmaker and visual effects artist, Peter Ellenshaw (1913 – 2007) for the film, City Beneath. While still living in Europe, Ellenshaw began to work as a matte painter for several Hollywood movie studios, he worked for MGM on Quo Vadis (1951), but his most extensive association was with the Walt Disney Studios beginning with their first completely live action feature film, Treasure Island (1950). He went on to work on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) and Mary Poppins (1964), for which he won an Academy Award. In 1993 Ellenshaw was inducted into Disney's hall of fame program as an official Disney Legend. The piece presented in this lot was rendered on 20" x 16" board, framed to 28.5" x 24". Frame sold as-is. Here's a terrific opportunity to pick up a rare piece of concept art by a legendary artist. Artwork condition is Fine.
