Description

Cinderella Coach Study Drawings Group of 10 by Ken O'Connor (Walt Disney, 1950). "Oh, it's beautiful." "Yes, isn't it? With an elegant coach like that, of course, we'll simply have to have... mice!" The design of one of the most iconic visual elements of Disney's Cinderella, the pumpkin coach, is credited to Disney Legend Ken O'Connor (1908 - 1998) and a few of the studies he created for Cinderella's elegant ride to the Prince's ball appear here in this lot! There are ten pages of studies in mixed media, four on 12-field animation paper and six on 16-field. The studies detail everything from the design of the seat and wheels to the color palette (notably orange and red in the first study) to how the coach corresponded with the invisible coach (a climbable wooden set piece) used in the live-action reference. Every detail, including the measurements O'Connor gives for the coach, was integral to the design and success of what would become one of the most beloved and popular sequences in Disney history. The drawings come from O'Connor's archive and range from approximately 7.75'' x 6'' to 15'' x 11.5'' combined, a fantastic look at O'Connor's design and thought process when he worked. Good condition overall with some edge and handling wear, faint smudging and toning, minor creasing, and a taped page.
From the Ken O’Connor Archive.
