Description

Cinderella Castle, City, and House Early Development Concepts Group of 10 by Ken O' Connor (Walt Disney, 1950). Included in this lot are 10 original 16 field pages early development concepts by Disney Legend Ken O' Connor (1908 - 1998) for Cinderella. O'Connor created a variety of layouts, studies, and concepts for the film, including Cinderella's unforgettable pumpkin coach and the woman's heartbreaking run to the garden once her dress is destroyed. These concepts explore the entrance and stairway to Cinderella's home, the village she eventually travels through to get to the ball, and the castle gate. Each of these elements was supposed to flow together seamlessly and artists like O'Connor made that possible by creating in depth layouts and concepts that brought the characters' world to life for both the animators and background artists to reference. The drawings are rendered in graphite and charcoal and range from about 6.25'' x 4.75'' to nearly the entire page at 15.5'' x 11.5''. Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear, faint toning, and some smudging.
From the Ken O’Connor Archive.
