Chanticleer Character Development Paintings by Walt Peregoy Original Art Group of 4 (Walt Disney, c. 1960s). This is stunning artwork from a Disney project that never was, from the hand of a Disney Legend. Chanticleer was a project that went through years of development, complete with stops and goes. The project was based on an old French play by Edmond Rostand. It was first attempted in the 1930s/40s. The onset of World War II halted production the first time. The project came alive again in the 1960s, with Marc Davis, Ken Anderson, and Walt Peregoy all heavily involved in this effort. This is an amazing set of four highly-stylized character development paintings for this proposed film by Walt Peregoy (1925 - 2015). Four graphite and gouache paintings on board, with overall sizes of 9" x 14.5". The different color and body style of each showcases Peregoy's talent. These abstract paintings really display the different personalities of the proposed characters. Pinholes in corners, minor handling. Very Good condition. From the Walt Peregoy Archives.
