    Description

Carnation Milk TV Commercial Concept Painting (Walt Disney, c. 1950s). In 1952, with the emergence of television, Walt Disney Studios started up a television commercial division. They used their own stylized characters for some and created characters for such companies as Ipana Toothpaste, Cheerios, and 7 Up, to name a few. The history of this 1950s animating division is written extensively in the great book Cartoon Modern by Amid Amidi on pages 152 and 153. This is an outstanding pair of concept art paintings for an animated Carnation Milk television commercial. The two 13" x 9" boards are mounted to presentation backing boards measuring 15" x 12.5". Artwork was done by Xavier Atencio (1919 - 2017). He was a Disney Legend Inductee in 1996. The name "Carnation" is inked on the backing boards, along the bottom borders. A rare look into Disney's involvement with new television emerging market. Minor handling and edge wear. Some tape on backing board border. Very Good condition. From the Joe Hale Archives.
