Carl Barks "Bad Bird from Bodie" Signed Concept Drawing (Walt Disney, c. 1970s). Presented is a rare concept sketch for Carl Barks' "Bad Bird from Bodie" painting, signed by the artist. Carl Barks (1901 - 2000) is widely known for is work with the Disney Studio and Western Publishing, where he created Duckburg and many of its inhabitants, including the iconic Scrooge McDuck. He has been named by animation historian Leonard Maltin as "the most popular and widely read artist-writer in the world," and Will Eisner called him "the Hans Christian Andersen of comic books." This concept was created in part of Carl Barks' painting series "Famous Figures of History as They Might Have Looked Had Their Genes Gotten Mixed Up with Waterfowl." The drawing is rendered expertly in graphite on a sheet of 8.5" x 11" bond paper. Overall minor handling and edge wear with slight age-related toning, and the condition is Very Good.
