    Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels Character Development Art Group of 2 (Hanna-Barbera, 1977). The inspiration for Captain Caveman came from the Slag Brothers, two characters on the 1968 series Wacky Races. "Cavey," as he is nicknamed, was voiced by Mel Blanc. The show began as part of Scooby's All-Star Laugh-A-Lympics. It debuted on ABC on 9/10/77. This is a pair of very early concept sketches of this character by development/layout artist Mr. Alvaro Arce. One looks nothing like the final character at all, dated 1969. Art is in graphite and colored marker on 12 field animation paper with an image of 5". A second development sketch is closer to the final design, and is dated 1970. This second concept piece includes a female "Teen Angel" with him. It's also in graphite on 12 field animation paper. Image sizes on the second piece are 6" and 7". These sketches showcase how long some characters are "In Development." Both pieces of art have been signed by the artist. Minor handling and edge wear. Very Good condition.
