Bunny Hugged Original Concept Art (Warner Brothers, 1951). This brilliant Chuck Jones-directed short featured Bugs Bunny in a parody of the sport of wresting. In it were such wrestlers as "Ravishing Ronald - The De-natured Boy" and "The Crusher." Pete Alvarado did backgrounds for this short, and Robert Gribbreck did layouts This is a rare background Color Key/concept painting of the wrestling ring and crowd, painted in gouache on 5" x 7" black paper. There is a fascinating note by the artist who painted this as an inset in the mat and it reads "The little experimental heads (top of BG) were made with erasers dipped in paint and stamped on background. Some were touched up with paint. BG's were painted on black paper." The bottom of the note includes the title of the cartoon and what appears to be a slight boast -- "This was before Maurice Nobel used black paper in Duck Dodgers." You can see this stylized face stamping technique on the finished backgrounds throughout the short. The piece is matted and framed under Plexiglas with a mat opening of 5" x 7" in a 19" x 20" frame which is sold as-is. Condition is Very Good.
