    Description

Bible Storyland "Street of the Fakirs" Concept Hand-Embellished Print (1959). Fakirs were considered to be holy men possessed of great powers, existing solely on their faith -- and from begging in the street. In the park's concept, they were more like performing street magicians. This is a prime example of park attendees watching street magicians and performers in the "Street of Fakirs" theme park plans. The tourists are drawn in a pleasing late 1950s/early 1960s style. Former Disney artist Bruce Bushman hand-colored the brown-line print of his concept drawing for this section of the proposed park. The bottom right of the design has "Bible Storyland Inc, Jan 1 1960 Bushman" with an initial mark. Pastel on brown-line paper measuring 24" x 19.5". There's a lot going on in this piece! Minor handling and edge wear. Fine condition.
