Description

Betty Boop Publicity Art Drawing (Fleischer Studios, c. 1930s). This beautiful full figure Betty Boop drawing is rendered beautifully in graphite and is believed to have been created in preparation for the theatrical lobby standee. Betty was created by Max Fleischer with help from animators like Grim Natwick and appeared in 90 theatrical shorts between 1930 and 1939. She was toned down in the mid-1930s due to the Hays Code, which gave her less revealing clothing and an adjusted design that made her older and taller. Despite the changes, Betty's new look only led her to become more and more popular. The drawing measures about 3.75'' x 7.75'' and is displayed in an 11'' x 10.75'' mat window and 17'' x 15.5'' mat. It has a Plexiglas covering and is ready to be framed for display in your collection! A print of a photograph of Max Fleischer and Betty's voice actress Mae Questel that features the stand is included as reference. Good to Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear, a faint crease not on the character, and light age-related toning.
