    Description

Bedknobs and Broomsticks Underwater Concept Painting by Dick Kelsey (Walt Disney, 1971). "Bobbing along, singing a song on the bottom of the beautiful briny sea!" Dick Kelsey (1905-1987) had a long career with Walt Disney Studios as an art director and background painter, as well as theme park designer for Disneyland. He had left Disney to work on designs for a Magic Mountain theme park, but returned to the studio to work on this film and its backgrounds. This is an outstanding background Color Key/concept painting of Eglantine Price and Professor Browne with Carrie, Paul, and Charlie, traveling on the bed under the waters of the lagoon. Images of the cast traveling in the bed are considered Key Scenes. This amazing piece of artwork is gouache on board measuring 12" x 8.5". A clear sheet of acetate is over the painting. Tack holes in corners with minor handling wear. Very Good condition. From the Joe Hale Archives.
