    Description

    Beauty and the Beast Poster Design Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1991). Extremely rare early concept artwork of Belle and The Beast with the stained glass Rose in the background. This was early design work for a theatrical poster, from the hand of the late John Alvin (1948 - 2008). Mr. Alvin was a cinematic artist and painter who produced over 135 classic movie posters in his career. His first movie poster was for Blazing Saddles, and he went on to do such films as ET, Blade Runner, Star Wars, and Batman, to name but a few. He produced the final artwork for the Beauty and the Beast poster and many other Disney one sheets including Aladdin, Lion King, and The Little Mermaid. This is a very important piece. There are no production cels in Beauty and the Beast and original artwork of this quality is rare. Gouache and pastel on board measuring 14" x 10.5" and matted to 12.5" x 17.75". Back of board has a sticker that reads "Please Return This Original to Artist Thank You." It is also hand-signed and dated 1991. The front of the artwork is also signed by Mr. Alvin in gold pen. A simply stunning piece of original artwork. Fine condition.
