    Description

Batman: The Animated Series Pre-Production Background Concept Painting (Warner Brothers, 1992). This is a piece of history from the cartoon that was one of -- if not the first -- to achieve its art direction and style by painting backgrounds on black paper. This pre-production background concept painting was created for the series' first episode, "On Leather Wings" (airdate 9/6/92), which featured the Man-Bat as the antagonist. This artwork perfectly conveys the entire feel and art direction of this show. The painting is on 9" x 11" paper and is signed by artist John Calmette in silver pen in bottom right corner. It is very rare to find artwork of this quality from the premiere episode. Wonderfully detailed and in Fine condition.
