Batman Storyboards Original Art Group of 6 (Warner Brothers, 1989). Tim Burton directed this film that starred Michael Keaton as Batman and Jack Nicholson as the Joker. This hugely successful first installment of Warner Brothers Batman movie series served as the inspiration for Batman: The Animated Series. The film was influenced by Alan Moore and Brian Ballard's The Killing Joke and Frank Miller's The Dark Knight. This is the original storyboard set of six original storyboards of "Batman Suiting Up" drawn by legendary storyboard artist David Russell. Mr. Russell has worked on over 80 major motion pictures over the course of his career and his work on this film can be seen throughout the book Batman: The Definitive History of the Dark Knight in Comics, Film and Beyond by Andres Fargo and Gina McIntyre. The "Suiting Up Batman" art appears page 157. Mr. Russell states that his storyboards were done using white Prismacolor pencil on midnight blue storyboard panels and this technique evolved as a result of Tim Burton's requests for darker imagery. The six hand-drawn storyboards measure 7" x 4" and are mounted 8.5" x 11" paper numbed 7 - 10B with dialog beneath. Extremely rare original artwork from this Tim Burton historic Batman film. Minor handling, condition is Very Good. From the David Russell Collection.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
